The units are externally powered and require 90 - 150 vac 50/60 Hz at 3 VA for the interrupter and an additional 35 VA for each external mercury relay attached.
The Model 3 interrupter can power up to 5 external mercury relays or 5 solid state relays. The mercury relays can be either 60 amp or 100 amp rating for the single pole relays. The Model 3 interrupter can also power up to two 3 pole external mercury relay.
The status of the operation of the Model 3 interrupter is shown on a 4 line by 40 character LCD and two external LEDs. All of the operation parameters and setup functions are shown on the LCD display.
All operator input is done by means of a solid state keyboard. This keyboard does not have any moving parts to wear out or break.
